This is a monologue I wrote for “Tony”, a character in the upcoming short film “Love in Dark Places”. Film written and directed by Rod Kirby.
“What’s funny is, all I ever wanted was love. Something like my folks had. Something real.
But I know this ain’t love though, its just something I do to pass the time.
Something to take me away from…. everything. Bills, work, my thoughts. I know this ain’t love.
Love ain’t gon be walking the streets at 3 am or trickin’ behind the dumpster.
Love will be better than that, sweeter.
I know this ain’t love.
Love gives hope, life to whomever it grabs hold of.
Nah , I know this ain’t love
Guess it’ll just have to do until I find it.
